Skateistan

What an amazing concept
I am a huge skater/longboarder and come from a third world country! Never imagined that skating would somehow make it there and have such great results. This movie really touched my heart. Left my girlfriend in tears! Easy purchase!

Skateistan brings peace to Afghan youth!
Skateistan is a simple idea that can change the future hope of Afghanistan. All it took was some skateboards & these kids were stoked. But its so much more than that. The skateboards get the kids through the doors. Once they are in, the magic happens. They learn respect, conflict resolution, equality, get an education, get empowered, conquer racial and gender barriers & more. I just love it. I've rarely been this supportive and excited about an organization. It just seems to work, and the way they go about working with these kids is brilliant. It is so incredibly inspiring. The majority of the population of Afghans are youth. So if you want to make any changes and bring the country to peace, the children are who you need to tap into. But they aren't just helping the kids with basic care; they are giving the kids a new way of life, giving them enrichment, giving them some power. Personally, I have always wanted to skateboard, or at least longboard. I've been a chicken about it, and the...

absolutely phenomenal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to thank the film makers for showing the world the story of these children, their plight and the amazing impact that something as simple/pure/beautiful as skateboarding can make, even in a setting as seemingly hopeless as war-torn/gender-segregated Afghanistan.
If you are interested in political/war-related current events, then watch this movie.
